The Circle of Habondia Lending Society is getting set to host an exciting art auction on Thursday at Self Design High (Legion Building on Victoria Street). More than 30 female artists have donated an array of art for the event that is raising money for the Women in Sustainable Housing project that “helps the economic and social advancement of women by removing barriers of inequality and promoting the eliminating the violence against women.” Habondia board members Sandra Nelken (left) and Hannah Hadikin (right) display some of the art that will be up for grabs on Thursday night: a watercolour by Sue Parr, a traditional aboriginal drum by Josie Ahearn, a Brazilian soap stone sculpture by Nancy Lee Smith and a landscape by Lainey Benson.
