The Nelson United Church warmly invites you to join us for a dramatic reading of Charles Dickens’ beloved classic, A Christmas Carol, on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. This cherished Christmas tradition is back, and we are thrilled to share it with the community once again.
Our host for the evening, Robyn Lamb, will enchant us with music to complement the dramatic reading. Taking the stage as readers are Sydney Black, Bob Keating, Devon Caron, Katie McEwen, Leslie Payne and Geoff Burns. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and admission is by donation with no advance ticket sales.
And what better way to kick off the Nelson United Church’s Raise the Roof fundraising campaign than sharing this timeless tale of the transformative power of generosity?
The Raise the Roof campaign is a crucial effort to ensure that our historic building remains a vibrant hub for the Nelson community. Our church hosts multiple choir practices, support group meetings, the Nelson Community Food Centre, workshops and lectures, and, of course, our weekly worship services.
Hundreds of people pass through our doors each week, and we are committed to maintaining the building so it can continue to serve Nelson for generations to come.
This year, major work is required, including an electrical system upgrade and a roof replacement, with an estimated total cost of $100,000. We cannot achieve this without your help.
Donations can be made via mail or e-transfer to office@nelsonunitedchurch.ca. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in keeping this vital community space thriving.
Celebrate the season, enjoy a beautiful evening of storytelling, and help us Raise the Roof for our community. We hope to see you there!
