Two schools from Kootenay Lake school district — L.V. Rogers Secondary and Crawford Bay Elementary-Secondary — will be taking home new Sony equipment to document their environmental action stories for future projects.
“We are very excited to receive an award from BC Green Games,” expressed Deanna Holitzki, principal of L.V. Rogers Secondary School. “With the camera, we will be able to further document L.V. Rogers’ progress with our greenhouse and garden beds, and show our students in action as they take on this initiative with enthusiasm.
“We are very proud of the efforts of Dave Afford and Shannon Murphy and their students in promoting sustainability and local food security, and are confident that their project will provide a legacy for years to come.”
BC Green Games prize winners were chosen by random selection from those teachers who submitted a year-end survey.
This year, Sony video cameras will go to Sea View Elementary-Jr. Secondary (Vancouver Island North) as well as L.V. Rogers.
Sony Bloggies will go to Crawford Bay and Hillside Elementary (Victoria), and Sony digital cameras will go to Esquimalt Secondary (Victoria) and Hans Helgeson Elementary (Sooke).
