Thanksgiving is upon us. The reality is many will not be able to cook or even afford a Thanksgiving meal. Between rent, medical related expenses, and spiralling food costs, seniors are being hit especially hard. Some people don’t even have a pan large enough to cook a turkey or a home to make it in. Others don’t know how or don’t have the capacity to cook. Some are alone and don’t want to eat by themselves.
We want to help. Our Daily Bread is offering a full turkey dinner for anyone in the community on Monday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. at 520 Falls St.
If you would like to help Our Daily Bread in providing a free meal, one can e-transfer a donation to office@kcfoffice.com and mention Thanksgiving. To help in other ways, contact our office at 250-352-1722. Any left over funds will go to the ongoing support of Our Daily Bread.
Community, good food, and friendship is essential for personal well-being. That is what Our Daily Bread is all about. We serve hot lunches five days per week. Sixty to 90 people come every day to eat or obtain to-go meals. We are seeing an increase in the senior population enjoying our services. In addition, single parents, our growing at risk homeless population and the working poor, all benefit from our space and good food.
