Science World British Columbia is hosting a workshop Wednesday, March 30 at Selkirk College in Nelson to for adults looking to encourage kids to become more enthusiastic about science.
All adult scientists, engineers and technologists are welcome to attend this dynamic workshop that will help them in igniting a love of science in elementary and high-school students.
Hosted as part of Science World’s Scientists and Innovators in the Schools program, the workshop is appropriate for anyone wanting to learn more about classroom presentations in a fun environment or for anyone interested in joining the program.
Participants will learn six keys to effective presentations, presentation ideas for different grade levels, and much more.
Science and Innovators in the Schools is a program that helps address British Columbia’s need for more scientists, engineers, technologists and technicians to promote students’ interest in these areas.
The program’s goal is to inspire students with exciting, in-school presentations by real scientists. The program is offered to grades K–12 everywhere in B.C.
“The program gives students the opportunity to learn from experienced scientists and benefit from their first-hand knowledge,” says Pauline Finn, director of community outreach at Science World.
“The program is enlightening for kids; they learn how the concepts in their textbooks are applied in real life. When local scientists participate, kids are excited to learn about the science going on in their own backyard.”
