Amelie Drewitz has a passion and talent for art.
At the age of 13, she has already shown her art work in multiple local venues, including Touchstones, the Kootenay Bakery Co-op Café and Cowan Office Supplies.
Her mother, Kathrin, says that Amelie has been making art ever since she can remember. “Art is where Amelie thrives,” says Kathrin, and the results are impressive.
Equally impressive is Amelie’s desire to support the school she attends, the Nelson Waldorf School. When she heard about the fundraiser to fix the roof of the first schoolhouse of this expanded campus, the old Silverking Ski Hill Lodge, she and her mom hatched a plan.
They created their own fundraiser that ran on the day of the Winter Faire and called it “Art for the Roof – a Roof for the Arts.” As Kathryn said, “Amelie is proud to use her art and her money to give toward the school.”
If you would also like to support the Nelson Waldorf fundraiser, as Amelie has, please go to https://www.gocirclefund.com/waldorf. The fundraiser goes until Dec. 31st, and all donations come with a tax deductible receipt.
Amelie’s artwork is currently on sale at Touchstones Gallery.
