Domestic violence profoundly affects individuals, families and communities.  Together with community partners, non-profit agencies in the Nelson area planned a number of activities during Prevention of Violence Against Women Week (April 19-23) to draw attention to violence and encourage action to end it.

Yesterday in Nelson, the Nelson Community Services Centre featured the video Finding Dawn at the Health Unit. This poignant film takes viewers from the streets of Vancouver to the “Highway of Tears” in northern B.C. and eastward to Saskatoon, where the murders and disappearances of Native women remain unresolved.

The Kootenay Boundary Community Services Co-operative works to strengthen its members and address social well-being in the Kootenay-Boundary region.
