L.V. Rogers high school and Blewett Elementary are competing in Science World’s Green Games competition and asking for Nelson’s help in securing funding for environmental endeavors.

For the contest, schools submit stewardship projects using creative media such as videos or photo-essays.

The four entries which receive the most votes in an online contest get $500 each in viewer’s choice awards. Two prizes will go to elementary schools and two to secondary schools.

L.V. Rogers’ entry involves a school greenhouse and garden, while Blewett’s is a paper towel composting project.

Both submissions are available for viewing at bcgreengames.ca.

Public voting is open until March 31.

Another 20 winning projects will be decided on by a team of judges from across B.C. that includes teachers, scientists, government members and business leaders. Over $20,000 in prizes will be awarded provincially.

Science World manages the Games with input from youth, government, school district, university, science and environmental education community partners.
