They came together to get locked in for love – and raised close to $15,000 for the Nelson Branch of the SPCA. The funds will help care for abused, neglected, homeless, injured and sick animals in the Nelson area.

The “lock-ins”: were Robin Cherbo (and Bella), Rebecca Maybank (and Misteah), Chad Hansen (and Roxy), Ella and Amelia Hurst (and Leo), Vicky Issott (and kittens), Paul Burkart (and Chester), and Debbie House (and Buddy). They all spent 2 or more hours locked in a kennel, all the while calling on their friends and colleagues and good Samaritans to donate the “bail” money to get them out.

Rob Andrew wasn’t surprised they reached their goal and then some: “We know Nelson is a caring and animal-loving community and this really shows it. This money will have a huge impact for homeless and neglected animals in the Nelson area.”

Andrew added, “We couldn’t have done it without the assistance of our volunteers, including a team from RBC, who all worked hard to pull it all together.”
