During the regular meeting of the Nelson air cadets on Jan. 4 two of the squadron’s senior cadets were presented with their Air Cadet Long Service Medal.

This medal is for cadets who have completed four years in the cadet program. The cadets who received the medal were Flight Sergeant Ashley Sonnichsen and Flight Sergeant Brooke Sonnichsen. Both Brooke and Ashley joined the squadron in November 2018.

Also during the evening, four cadets — Samuel Rempel, Charlotte Faragher, Christian Faragher and Justice Ward — were recognized by the Nelson Legion for being the four cadets with the largest donations during the Legion’s 2022 Poppy Drive.

This year marks 70 years of air cadets in Nelson. As part of the anniversary, the squadron is hoping to get in contact with former members of the squadron.
