The local chapter of Crime Stoppers handed out a couple of certificates of appreciation on Tuesday afternoon at the Nelson Police Department headquarters. Jack Fisher and Eric Nygren of Crime Stoppers stopped by to present the NPD chief Wayne Holland and volunteer coordinator Sarah Hannah with certificates. Holland called the program “instrumental” in community policing efforts in the area. Hannah is winding up her time with the organization as she is the NPD’s latest recruit and will be taking six months to train to become a police officer. On hand for the photo were (L-R) Nygren, Holland, Hannah, Fisher and NPD Inspector Henry Paivarinta.
