The Nelson and District Arts Council (NDAC) is looking for business owners to become ArtWalk venues from June 24 to Sept. 4.
This highlight event populates venues throughout the downtown core with quality, locally produced artwork. Venue operators select the featured artist(s) from our list to find artwork that aligns with their walls and branding. Businesses and venues who have existing arrangements with local artists are also encouraged to apply to be included in our map, marketing, and festivities.
After the two opening nights (Friday, June 24 and Friday, July 29), art will be available to view at the participating venues during their regular hours until Sunday, Sept. 4. The opening nights will showcase participating artists at their venues alongside a collection of street performances and other delights throughout Nelson’s downtown core from 6 to 9 p.m. A new set of artists will have their work on display at each opening.
We continue to encourage both professional and emerging artists to apply for ArtWalk. Not all applicants will be selected but priority will be given to artists showing recent work not previously exhibited at ArtWalk or other Nelson venues. NDAC continues to waive participation fees for artists and venues for the 2022 edition to support our community’s economic recovery from the pandemic.
