The Canadian Red Cross needs additional emergency response volunteers for the Central Okanagan area and will be holding two 45 minute information sessions for people interested in learning more about the emergency response volunteer opportunities available through the organization.
“Volunteers come with great skills and wonderful abilities,” says Cor Zandbergen, emergency operations team leader. “We want to provide interesting opportunities. Right now we are recruiting for Nelson and area volunteers who desire to respond to people in need. Also required are volunteers with specific skills in administration, human resources, public affairs, community fundraising and logistics.”
The info sessions will be held on Tuesday at the Best Western Baker Street Inn at both 12 noon and 7 p.m.
“Being an emergency response volunteer provides a chance to work with other great people and the opportunity to make a difference,” says Zandbergen.
“This work can be both professionally and personally rewarding.”
If you are interested in learning more about the opportunity to volunteer with the Red Cross emergency response team, please RSVP to the info session, as space is limited, by contacting John Richey at 250-763-1859, ext. 203.
