After a six-month stay at the Covenant Church, the Nelson Community Food Centre’s Good Food Bank program is returning to the Nelson United Church’s lower hall at 602 Silica St.

NCFC would like to offer an enormous thanks to Jeff, Rick and the entire Covenant Church team for letting us use their space to run this program for this time. Our move enables the Covenant Church to run other great programs this fall.

Though our kitchen renovation is still underway (that was the original reason for the move), running our Good Food Bank out of the Nelson United Church means we can have all staff in one location, and have access to our walk-in cooler to keep our food fresh. We’ll be closer to our raised-bed garden and offices, too. We are working with the Cornerstone Contracting team to ensure that both the renovation and our Good Food Bank programs can run concurrently.

Our first Good Food Bank day back at the Nelson United Church will be Tuesday, Sept. 6.

The Good Food Bank schedule remains the same with program participants welcome on Tuesday, noon to 2 p.m. and Wednesday, 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, check the Nelson CFC website at nelsoncfc.ca.
