Two sold-out shows just wasn’t enough.

Lucas Myers’ one-man show A Beginner’s Guide to Nelsonia features six archetypal Kootenay characters, and it was such a hit with audiences he’s decided to remount it this month at the Capitol.

The show revolves around Ryan, the show’s “mildly incompetent host,” while introducing the audience to Myers’ characters Gary from Procter, Stephen the Art Star, Atreyu the neo-hippie, campground worker Connor and Susan from the bank.

The video elements of his show are also being featured in Kinesis, the Civic Theatre’s first ever film symposium, this weekend. The GoPro-filmed shorts feature Myers completing activities necessary to become “a true Nelsonian” — he calls it the Kootathlon.

He also makes reference to the Star’s Hugs and Slugs section.

“They include hiking Pulpit, surviving a four-way stop and metal yoga,” Myers told the Star, noting that he’s aiming to incorporate local metal act Savage Blade into his show.

“A selection of them are going to be part of the Friday opening night gala at the Kinesis Fest, and there will be some ticket give-aways as well.”

The full show will be at the Capitol at 8 p.m. on Sept. 29 and 30.
