The Crescent Valley fire department christened its newest addition last week: a tanker-tender with one-third larger capacity than the usual standard.

“It’s a huge advantage to the departments in the Slocan Valley, as they all work together,” says regional fire chief Terry Swan.

The truck, purchased from an Abbotsford manufacturer and driven here by the owner, replaces an old truck that no longer meets insurance standards. Swan says its fate is still being decided.

Pictured at right along with volunteer firefighters are Slocan village councillor and RDCK vice-chair Hillary Elliott, Crescent Valley fire chief Carl Nord, and Slocan Valley regional director Walter Popoff.
