The Nelson Lions Club is pleased to announce the return of a sorely missed tradition — taking over the 500 block of Baker Street and kicking off Canada Day with pancakes (homemade this year!), sausages, coffee and more.

For over 50 years, Canada Day Pancakes has been a favourite fundraiser for our local Lions club. Thanks to Nelson Home Building Centre for a generous $2,000 donation to repair some recent vandalism, the club’s infamous chuckwagon is back — this “grill on wheels” was specially built for this event, and is available to rent once again!

The Nelson Lions also thank Freestyle Burrito Co. (561 Baker St.) for providing overflow grills and kitchen space, as well as KC Restaurant, Selkirk College, Oso Negro, the Nelson Star, the Nelson Chamber of Commerce and all the other volunteers and businesses that make this event possible.

Each year hundreds of breakfasts are sold to raise funds for local student bursaries, the club’s Community Grants program, sight and hearing programs for the elderly, and contributions to larger Lions International projects throughout the world.

To reduce waste, guests are encouraged to bring their own plates, cutlery, and mugs where possible. Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. with a recommended donation of $10, cash only please.
