A crowd of 225 people ran like mothers on May 7 starting at the Hall Street Plaza and running their choice of three routes of five, 10, or 21 kilometres.
Run Like a Mother was a fundraiser on Mother’s Day weekend for the Kootenay Kids’ Society, which runs a variety of services for children and families.
“I’ve been organizing this event since 2018,” said the society’s Alexandra Forsythe about the event that was planned for 2o2o and then delayed by the pandemic. “This is very special, and I’m so happy with the turnout, it exceeded my expectations.”
Kootenay Kids has not yet announced the amounts of funds raised.
The routes took runners through Fairview and then, depending on the distance, over the Nelson Bridge, to Bealby Point, and along the Rail Trail.
