Kootenay Christian Fellowship’s Michelle Fillion (right) receives $1,000 toward the purchase of the Savoy Hotel from the Kootenay Qigong group (from left, Ming Kit Kwan, Lily Mayall, and Barb Bond). The donation comes out of the group’s $2 and $3 drop-in fees — they meet Mondays at the seniors’ centre and Thursdays in the United Church basement. They challenge other local organizations to match their contribution toward the low-cost housing project. A black-tie event is planned for April 8 at the Prestige Lakeside Resort.
