Remember Hiroshima

Hiroshima Day is observed in many parts of the world with special vigils and peace marches. It is held to commemorate the dropping of the first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.

Hiroshima Day will be marked on August 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Mir Centre for Peace at Selkirk College’s Castlegar campus.

Hiroshima Day is observed in many parts of the world with special vigils and peace marches. It is held to commemorate the dropping of the first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.

Mir Centre advisory council member Karen Godbout will be sharing an exhibit of 10 photographs, entitled Shadow and Light, from her May visit to Hiroshima, to mark and remember this day in history.

Join her on Hiroshima Day — August 6 — from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Mir Centre for Peace at Selkirk College’s Castlegar campus.

The exhibit will also be available for public viewing from 1 to 4 p.m. on September 8, 15, 22 and 29.
