Repair Cafe to hold first Nelson event July 5

Bring broken or damaged items to be fixed for free with the help of skilled volunteers
repaircafe
A repair cafe held in Toronto in 2018. A similar event will be held July 5 in Nelson.

The Repair Cafe Nelson initiative is excited to report  that our first event is confirmed for July 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nelson District Rod and Gun Club. We are a volunteer-driven initiative focused on reducing waste, sharing knowledge, and fostering a sense of community through the power of repair.

A Repair Cafe is a community event where people can bring broken or damaged items to be fixed for free with the help of skilled volunteers. Attendees will work alongside our volunteers to identify issues and attempt to fix their item together. With a focus on knowledge sharing, you can ask questions, pick up new skills, and enjoy connecting with others in the community.

At the Nelson Repair Cafe, we are hoping to support items such as small appliances, clothing and textiles, bikes, electronics, furniture, and household items.

This is our first repair event and we are excited to be able to start in such a great location. Thank you to the Osprey and Vancouver Foundations for providing us with a Neighbourhood Small Grant to support our first event.

We are always looking for more volunteers. Visit our website at RepairCafeNelson.ca to get connected or learn more.
