Restaurants for Change returns to Nelson Oct. 16

The event is a fundraiser for the Nelson Community Food Centre

Seventeen Nelson restaurants will participate in the annual Restaurants for Change fundraiser on Oct. 16.

The Nelson Community Food Centre staff are very excited to be working with 17 local restaurants next Wednesday, Oct. 16, in bringing Restaurants for Change back to Nelson for a sixth year. The event continues to gain momentum as restaurants and residents want to participate in promoting food security in our city and region.

The program next Wednesday night is very simple. You go out to dinner at one of the participating restaurants and up to 100 per cent of the price of your meal goes to the NCFC as a donation. This year, the following restaurants are participating: Ashman’s Smash Burgers, Beauties, Broken Hill, Cantina del Centro, El Taco, Finley’s, The General Store, Kootenay Tamil Kitchen, Kurama Sushi, Louie’s Steakhouse, The Library Lounge, Main Street Diner, Marzano, Red Light Ramen, Sage Tapas and Wine Bar, Tandoori Grill and Yum Son.

We’re happy to say this is our biggest number of restaurants to date! Enormous thanks to participating restaurant partners.

Funds raised will be used to run the NCFC’s Food Skills, Good Food Bank, Garden, and Harvest Rescue programs. Each of these programs deliver on the organization’s mission to create opportunities for people facing adversity to share, connect and advocate around good food.

As attendees of past years know, this special night has become a great way for residents and restaurants to bond together to support a vibrant organization doing good work in our town. The event is a significant fundraiser for the NCFC and the hope is that even more people than last year will be out to enjoy a good meal on Oct. 16.

Judging from last year, reservations for the night are encouraged (where possible). For more information on the event, visit ww.nelsoncfc.ca and look under the About section, or call Andrew Creighton, development director for the NCFC, at 250-5151-0305.

We look forward to seeing you out and about next Wednesday.
