For the last few months, Save-On-Foods customers have been given the option of donating their grocery points to the Square Foot to Freedom campaign to buy the old Savoy Hotel and turn it into low-cost housing.

Last week, Save-On manager Pete Taillon (left) presented Pastor Jim Reimer of Kootenay Christian Fellowship with a cheque for $1,462.

There are 1,000 points for each dollar, which means customers donated 731,000 points before the store matched them. The offer is still good — just say you want to give your points to fundraiser 102.
