Seed swappers come together

The West Kootenay EcoSociety presents the 15th Annual Seedy Sunday on March 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Legion Hall. For all the seed swappers, conservers, developers and newcomers, this is the place where you can learn to save, seed and grow your own garden, reduce your carbon footprint, protect plant biodiversity, obtain local knowledge, and meet people who share the same interest all at the same time.

This annual event has been occurring around Canada since 1989 when Sharon Rempel, the creator of Seedy Saturday, decided to bring the community together to share stories and swap seeds in Vancouver. For the last 22 years, seedy Saturday and Sunday events have promoted the idea of seeds being the heart of food security in every community.

Seed savers are encouraged to attend exchange and sell seeds. Pre-registration is recommended but not required.
