The West Kootenay EcoSociety is bringing the ski film All In to Nelson on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Civic Theatre at 6:30 p.m.
Guest speakers will be Laura Waterer, ski patroller, avalanche trainer and repeat-winner of the Coldsmoke Powder Festival; and Trace Cooke, professional skier, past Freeride World Tour competitor, and freestyle coach.
All In is Matchstick Productions’ latest release, featuring deep pow, cliff drops, gnarly big-mountain descents, and an equal cast of women and men. Get ready for an action-packed, cinematic delight celebrating the wonder and enjoyment of winter, starring Angel Collinson, Michelle Parker, Tatum Monod, Elyse Saugstad, Mark Abma, Wiley Miller, Johnny Collinson, and Cody Townsend.
“We wanted to celebrate winter and our love of skiing in the West Kootenays,” said Erin Thompson of the EcoSociety. “All In is a great way to start off the ski season and get you, your friends, and your family stoked.”
The film title has many meanings: the greater inclusivity in the sport, the complete dedication of the athletes, and the high-stakes consequences of climate change.
“The EcoSociety is taking action on climate change and we’re excited to show this film because we’re literally all in this challenge together,” said Thompson.
“We all need to be involved in the transition to 100-per-cent renewable energy because we all use fossil fuels directly or indirectly. Mounds of fresh powder are every skier’s dream, but less snow will affect us all as summers get hotter and fresh water supplies diminish.”
Tickets are $15 and are available at the Civic Theatre office or civictheatre.ca.
The screening will also feature giveaway prizes including lift tickets and ski clothing.
