The Slocan Park Community Hall will receive grant funding of $9,050 from the Columbia Basin Trust to upgrade LED lighting, insulate the existing hot water tank and upgrade single pane windows to decrease energy consumption and improve comfort and sustainability.

The hall was built in the 1920s and in a typical year would host seniors events, craft and seasonal fairs, parent and tot programs, art classes and sports and recreational programs.

“The Slocan Park Community Hall Society is very grateful to CBT for this energy sustainability grant,” said Ruth Hackett, president of the Slocan Park Community Hall Society. “It will help the hall to function more efficiently in its efforts to serve the community.”

In addition, the CBT has granted $27,000 to the Royal Canadian Legion in the Village of Slocan to install air-source heat pumps in the Legion hall.
