Students, staff, and parents of St. Joseph School enthusiastically participated in their ninth annual walkathon at Lakeside Park on May 26 to raise money and support the Kootenay Kids Society and St. Joseph School programs.

Our local grocery stores made donations for the event: Save-On-Foods provided juice boxes, oranges, and a tent for shade, and Safeway donated watermelon for the participants.

Michael Carere, principal of St. Joseph, extends his gratitude to all his intermediate students, parents and the sponsors who helped with the preparation of the day.

“I would also like to thank our students and staff for their generous donations and the Nelson community who made pledges for our Walkathon,” said Carere. “We are looking forward to an even bigger Walkathon next year, as we celebrate St. Joseph School’s 125th Anniversary.”
