Branch 51 of the Nelson Senior Citizens held its ninth Strawberry Tea Festival to honour those members of our area who will attain their 90th birthday in 2011.

The event was the brainchild of Betty McRae who was the Branch 51 secretary from 2002 to 2009.

Betty has always felt that recognition should be given to those members in our community that have reached this milestone birthday.

Mildred Anderson, the branch president, welcomed guests on behalf of Senior Citizens Branch 51.

The 22 over 90s who attended the party are all longtime residents and have contributed much time and effort to the well-being and success of our community. Jennifer Warthe entertained attendees with several songs.

Betty Golata, at 97, and Henry Stevenson, 95, were the oldest honourees.
