Students host evening for Africa

L.V. Rogers’ Social Justice 12 group is getting set to host the 5th annual Celebrate Africa Night of Local Talent this weekend.

The event is being held on Saturday at the Nelson United Church. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the night of fun, talent, and entertainment begins at 7:30 p.m.

The evening will begin with Corazon Vocal Ensemble, followed by Voix Vive and a variety of great acts such as: Geordie Campos, slam poet; jazz combos, featuring Evacuation Route with vocalist Hannah Lingard; Logan Carlstrom from The Time Spinners will be showing a few tunes; and  Dylann McPherson will play  a Sandhi Thom piece.

Tickets  can be purchased at Eddy Music. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students.

This event is a fundraiser for L.V. Rogers’ project in the village of Yamandu, Sierra Leone. For six years we have supported war affected children and youth through the Free the Children agency.
