KAST (Kootenay Association for Science and Technology) and JABC (Junior Achievement British Columbia) are thrilled to announce the highly anticipated Summer Start-Up Camp. This free event is set to take place from July 31 to Aug. 4, offering an immersive experience designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills required to create their own start-up ventures and confidently present them to potential investors.
During the camp, students will dive into the world of entrepreneurship and gain invaluable insights into various aspects of business development. This comprehensive program will provide participants with a strong foundation in essential areas such as social media marketing, venture funding, public speaking and business fundamentals.
Taking place at the Nelson Innovation Centre, located at 91-D Baker St. in Nelson, the camp will foster a collaborative environment where students will work in teams alongside their peers. Through hands-on activities and engaging workshops, they will be introduced to human-centred design thinking, creative product development, product life cycles, e-commerce, app development, and other vital aspects of starting a successful business.
The program is carefully designed to enhance teamwork, decision-making, and critical thinking skills, ensuring participants are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the entrepreneurial world.
“The Summer Start-Up Camp offers a really unique opportunity for students to explore their entrepreneurial potential and gain practical skills that can shape their future,” said Sam Farrell, East Kootenay director at KAST.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with JABC to provide a dynamic and empowering learning experience that nurtures innovation and inspires young minds.”
The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, providing students with a focused and immersive experience.
