Nelson CARES Society is hosting a summer fundraising raffle for a Pedego Interceptor electric bike. All proceeds of the raffle go to support the Kootenay Seniors’ transportation program.

Kootenay Seniors, a program of Nelson CARES Society, works to support seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible, living with dignity and joy and being an integral part of their community. Kootenay Seniors has two essential programs, transportation and home support.

The Kootenay Seniors Transportation Program has worked diligently to meet the ever-growing need for safe, affordable, and reliable transportation for seniors in Nelson and the surrounding communities. The funds gained by the Pedego e-bike raffle will support the transportation program’s growth, and boost its expansion.

Mike Cylde from Pedego Canada shares “As a part of this amazing vibrant community, I am very happy to be able to support Nelson CARES in their work to help vulnerable members of our city. What awesome work they do, helping us move towards more inclusive spaces and recognizing housing is essential for everyone. Thank you, Nelson CARES!”

Tickets are only $10 each and are available on the website at www.nelsoncares.ca or in-person at Hall Street Place, 205 Hall St., and at the Kootenay Seniors new admin office at 805 Nelson Ave. when the office opens later in June. Tickets are also available at Buddy’s Place on Baker Street. With a maximum of 2,000 tickets sold the chances of riding away in style are pretty high.

The bright blue Pedego Interceptor has a 52 Volt battery and 10.5Ah motor uses the same advanced lithium-ion cells as an electric car. An eight-speed drivetrain provides smooth shifting and easy pedalling with five levels of pedal assist. Those pesky Nelson hills will bother you no more.

The draw will take place at the Kootenay Seniors office at 805 Hall St. and on their Facebook page on Oct. 1 at 4 p.m. The winner will be contacted by phone and/or email.

Nelson CARES and Kootenay Seniors would like to thank everyone who purchases a ticket and especially Mike Clyde for his support of this raffle.
