The sights, sounds, and scents of harvest time come together at Taghum Hall’s Harvest Festival, a free family event coming up on Sunday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All the favourites return with fun competitions including best apple pie, autumn bouquet, weird vegetables, and — yes — most creative cornucopia. There will be more than 30 artisans and farm stands, fun stuff for kids, entertainment in the gazebo, a delicious borscht lunch, and a full complement of friends and neighbours to share it with.

Taghum Hall’s motto is “building community one event at a time,” and this volunteer group has worked hard to find ways to bring people together, from the recent Pass the Pyrahi celebration of the Hall’s Doukhobor roots to the launch of its Food for Thought potluck and discussion series, with the Sept. 29 inaugural event centred on the theme of truth and reconciliation.

Next up after the ever-popular Harvest Festival comes the Taghum Hall Presents concert series, which on Oct. 31 features John Reischman and the Jaybirds.
