Each year the West Kootenay Telus Community Ambassadors take part in the Telus Day of Giving.

They are a group primarily of retirees who enjoy helping our communities in a variety of ways.

There are 32 locations across the country where volunteers take part in many different local projects.

On May 28 members of the group filled 360 Kits for Kids. These backpacks are filled with school supplies and will be donated to the local school districts in Nelson, Trail and Grand Forks, and later distributed to children in need.

They have been participating in this project for several years and it is very well received by all the schools. To date over 40,000 Telus volunteers have given 122,000 volunteer hours across the country.
