The Black Cauldron is the unanimous winner of all three Nelson Burger Month awards.

The restaurant’s entry The Huntress was the overwhelming favourite of voters, who named it winner of the Best Presentation, Best Tasting and Most Unique awards for the annual November contest.

The burger was described as “a delicious house-made elk and beef patty blended with Dijon mustard, layered with melted provolone cheese, a fennel slaw, flash fried crispy pickles, served on a beetroot bun kissed with black garlic aioli and fig jam. All topped with a skewered prawn and pickle.”

Black Cauldron’s winnings include trophies as well as $600 to be donated to charities of their choice.

It’s the second straight year The Black Cauldron has been honoured for its Burger Month entry. Last year its entry The Shadow Queen garnered Most Unique and Best Presentation awards.

Over 34 restaurants competed for Nelson Burger Month, the most the contest has ever had. Burger fans turned out too, casting 4,413 votes.

Rachel McGown was also the winner of the voter’s award. McGown was chosen from the pool of voters to take home $25 gift certificates from each of the 34 participating restaurants, a total value of $850.
