Table Talk, a community potluck supper focusing on climate change, will take place Monday, April 28, 5-7 p.m. at St. Saviour’s Pro-Cathedral Anglican Church, 701 Ward St. in Nelson.

“Collaborating with Native Plants as Climate Action” will be presented by Valerie Huff and Bren Beckwith of KinSeed Ecologies, a Nelson-based company that provides native plants and seeds, ecological gardening design, and biodiversity conservation in the West Kootenay and beyond.

Huff is a consulting restoration botanist who specializes in seed-based restoration of grasslands and meadow ecosystems, seed collection and sourcing and producing new native plants.

Beckwith, a professional ethnoecologist, is a landscape-level thinker who loves exploring the interrelationships among plants, people and place. She is a former instructor at Selkirk College and the University of Victoria’s School of Environmental Studies.

Intentionally local and passionate about plants, Huff and Beckwith make it possible for West Kootenay gardeners, plant enthusiasts and restoration practitioners to rekindle relations with native plants, from their true source.

From supporting local gardeners to developing sustainable strategies for habitat restoration and climate resilience, KinSeed Ecologies provides local wisdom, experience, and science-based results.

Table Talk is sponsored by KAIROS, an interfaith organization that works for the environment in Canada and the world. For more information and to join Table Talk, phone 250-352-9871 or email sandra@netidea.com.
