VIDEO: Chill out Nelson, 2019 is here

Nelson splashed into the new year with the annual Polar Bear Swim

Nelson residents washed off the stench of 2018 at the annual Polar Bear Swim.

Tuesday’s event, which is a fundraiser for Kootenay Co-op Radio, featured a large group of insane people sprinting head first into the icy death grip that is Kootenay Lake.

Locals left their pants and that foul year behind on the Lakeside Park beach by splashing into the welcoming water in the same way a dog might do after being skunked.

Scroll down for pictures and video of Tuesday’s swimmers.
