Volunteers from the Nelson Izu-shi Friendship Society have been working on the Friendship Garden at Cottonwood Falls Park recently. The pathways through the garden received a final topcoat of limestone gravel following the installation of electrical conduit by Nelson Hydro, the city’s public works staff, and Izu-shi members earlier in the summer. Lighting fixtures should be installed later this year, thanks to a grant from the Columbia Basin Trust and the support of the city.

Across the bridge, a new pathway will join the new stone steps leading from the Friendship Gate towards the waterfall. A new garden and viewpoint are planned, as well as extension of the paving stones.
