Thanks to the support of the Columbia Basin Trust and the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance Mentorship Grant, the actor that plays Moufasa in Broadway’s “The Lion King” will be in Nelson on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Along with his fiancee, also a successful Broadway actor, they will be presenting: “From Broadway to Baker” an advanced mentorship program at Intuit Studios open to all dance, theatre and burlesque performers.

Off Broadway they are Midnight Mayhem — Samson Night and Margo Mayhem — winners of the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender Best Duet title from 2022 as well as the 2023 Reigning Queen of Burlesque and winner of Best Debut, respectively.

“This opportunity is not only unique, it is breathtaking. I can’t wait!” says local performer Beava Las Vegas.

They will be offering lessons called “Put Some Funk On It,” “Face It,” and “Face the Funk.”

“Put Some Funk On It” is designed to help level up your performances by learning key dance moves and putting your funk on skills to make them your own. “Face It” will help you develop ways to make your face match your movements, while “Face the Funk” will consist of Sam and Margo partnering up to take what you’ve learned and put it into action!

SamsonNight and Margo Mayhem will also be performing in the Sept. 9 showcase “The Grand Gala” at the fourth annual Queen City Burlesque Expo at the Capitol Theatre. The only production of its kind, which covers all out of town artists’ travelling and lodging expenses, and features a sensational assortment of local and touring professionals from Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton and Georgia, and featuring local headliner, Mz. Iris Wilde.

The show is produced by Deja Louve, local business owner, performer, and producer, who is bringing sensational entertainment to stages in Nelson, Salmo, Castlegar, Creston, Trail, and Cranbrook.

Some of the sponsors include: Arcane Coda, Salmo District Arts Council, Kootenay Co-Op, and the Columbia Basin Trust.
