A little taste of Vegas will be taking the stage at the Capitol Theatre on Friday, September 16.

Cops for Kids is presenting Tribute! To the Stars featuring world-class tributes to Kenny Rogers, Patsy Cline and Neil Diamond.

The show features Marty Edwards as Kenny Rogers, Pam Ferens as Patsy Cline and Jason Scott as Neil Diamond.

All three artists are seasoned international performers who love what they do.

Recent years have seen an overall increase in the popularity of celebrity tributes and impersonators.

It all started 30 years ago in 1983 in the Showroom at the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino.

Although celebrity tributes appear all over the world, Las Vegas is still considered the mecca for professional and amateur celebrity tributes and amateurs.

Edwards, or Kenny Rogers, began his musical career as a lead vocalist and guitarist for a country band. He performed many popular Rogers songs of the time, but never consciously tried to imitate Kenny until 1998 when he was recording his album.

While recording, the producer said Edwards not only sounded like Rogers, but he looked like him too.

It was at his first benefit concert that he decided to put the Rogers tribute in as a one-time performance.

The show was so well received that Edwards has been doing it ever since.

Ferens, or Patsy Cline, is a versatile singer-songwriter based out of Westbank. She has had two singles including Opposites Attract and Does She which were released in 1995.

Since then Ferens has continued to write and perform and her style ranges from Trisha Yearwood to kd lang to Patsy Cline.

Scott, who takes on Neil Diamond, was born in Toronto and toured Canada extensively for 20 years. In 1990 he was a record label-signed writer and performer.

Scott was the first international tribute artist to win the Be A Legend competition as Neil Diamond at the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino.

He was invited back the following October and performed an enthusiastically received audition with On Stage Entertainment, owners of Legends in Concert.

The tribute artists take the stage at the Capitol at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 plus tax and fees. For ticket information contact the Capitol Theatre at 250-352-6363.
