After two years in dormancy, the Queen City Burlesque Expo: A Sensational Vaudeville Affair is happening! With support from the Columbia Basin Trust and Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance, close to 30 artists from across Turtle Island will perform the art of burlesque, comedy, expressive dance, theatre and high-calibre tease.

Burlesque workshops are open to anyone interested in celebrating Queen City’s core values: diversity, building connections, personal development, reconciliation, and fostering memories.

Quench your thirst for ground-breaking performance art Sept. 8 (Salmo Teaser at the Salmo Community Memorial Church), Sept. 9 (Tease on Tap at The Royal in Nelson), Sept. 10 (The Grand Gala at Nelson’s Capitol Theatre) with weekend workshops from Sept. 10 to 11. Tickets are available at https://queencityburlesque.ca/.

We will be showcasing local talent, 50 per cent of our own, including the howling heartbreaker Sir Deja Louve, Big Daddy Pancakes and Rosy Ripples, Sugar Jones, Mz. Iris Wilde, Beava Las Vegas and many more all the while honouring the life and death of Scarlet Mary Rose, burlesque and beauty maven and breast cancer warrior. Headlining the Vaudeville affair is The Foxy Lexxi Brown – the first Canadian to be crowned Miss Viva Las Vegas in 2018.
