The Nelson and District Women’s Centre annual RIFT (Renewing Intersectional Feminism Together) fundraiser is happening at The Royal on June 1. The event will showcase acoustic acts, burlesque performances, a raffle with amazing prizes donated by local businesses and a full band to close the evening.

RIFT is open to anyone and everyone 19 and older, so bring your partners and friends along to celebrate and support the oldest rural women’s centre in Canada that has been an integral service provider since 1974.

With a range of programming including the Drop-In Resource and Referral program, Queer Drop-In program, Crisis Support appointments, and weekly Crafternoons, the centre aims to serve the diverse community of our amazing mountain town we all call home.

As with many non-profit and charity organizations, the women’s centre relies on grants, donations and volunteers to run their programming.

With the cost of living continuing to rise and grants proving increasingly difficult to secure, fundraising is more important than ever to ensure their programming continues to be available to women and gender diverse folks who need support.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at https://www.theroyalnelson.com/events.
