A toe-tapping evening is in store for Nelson area music-lovers when the Portland, Ore., string band Never Come Down plays Taghum Hall on Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The concert is part of the Taghum Hall Presents performance series.

The band, comprised of vocalist-guitarist Crystal Lariza, bassist Ben Ticknor, banjo player Brian Alley and mandolinist Kaden Hurst, weaves modern and traditional styles of American music and has earned a reputation for thoughtful songwriting and dynamic arrangements. Since they formed in 2018, they’ve taken home the top prize at the FreshGrass and RockyGrass bluegrass competitions and have released one album, “Better Late Than Never” in 2021, with a second set to release later this year.

“They play and sing with authority and emotion beyond their years, and they showcase those skills through timeless songs that are all their own. This is a rare combination,” says Chris Pandolfi of the Infamous Stringdusters.

Taghum Hall is thrilled to host Never Come Down as part of their 36-stop tour, and invites folks to check out their sounds at nevercomedownband.com and then toe-tap over to taghumhall.ca for online tickets, or Eddy Music in downtown Nelson for the old-time variety.
