The Nelson Waldorf School Grade 8 class is excited to announce their staging of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Tuesday, March 12 with a second cast Wednesday, March 13 at the Capitol Theatre. Willy Wonka, the world-famous inventor of marvels such as the Everlasting Gobstopper, has just made an astonishing announcement: his mysterious factory is opening its gates to the lucky few who win Golden Tickets.
That includes young Charlie Bucket, whose life definitely needs sweetening. He and four other golden ticket winners embark on a mesmerizing, life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination. Get ready for Oompa-Loompas, incredible inventions, the great glass elevator, and more, more, more at this everlasting showstopper.
“For over 50 years, Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has invited audiences of all ages to step inside the world of pure imagination and we are proud to be able to share it with our community,” said Nicole Charlwood, the show’s producer. With direction by class teacher April Lavine, assisted by Kozmo Sammartino and creative directors Nicole Carere and Eleyor Snir, Charlwood promises a show “filled with eye-catching sets, costumes, and musical numbers. This dazzling show is truly a sweet treat for the entire family.”
The toe-tapping and ear-tickling musical numbers were choreographed by Jennifyre of Trillium Dance for 19 children in classes 4 to 6, part of a cast totaling 44 students.
