Nelson showed some early holiday spirit Sunday.
The eighth annual Community Breakfast and Toy Drive hosted by the Adventure Hotel brought in 448 gifts, 72 gift cards, $1,400 in cash as well as food donations for local families.
The hotel hosted a breakfast for visitors in return for an unwrapped toy, children's book or donation. Toys will be distributed by first responders to local school principals and the Salvation Army who identify families in need.
The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy meanwhile use the donated books for their One Book Under Every Tree campaign, while the cash donations will be provided to the Nelson Community Food Centre.
