My name is Jaspreet Kaur Batra, and I am incredibly excited to represent Nelson on a national stage at Miss Universe Canada 2024.
I have had the privilege of calling Nelson home for about a year now, and I am actively involved in our vibrant community as a director on the board of the West Kootenay Women's Association and chair of the West Kootenay Local Immigration Partnership. I also work as a public servant with B.C. Public Services. I hold a postgraduate education in Business Management and Health Administration.
Nelson’s beautiful creative energy and the authenticity with which people follow their passions here inspire me every day. I am deeply grateful for the stunning forest ecosystem surrounding our city, and I enjoy regular hikes and forest strolls with my husband to rejuvenate my soul.
For me, this journey is about much more than a title; it’s about spreading the message of compassion. In a world where everyone is suffering in some way, I believe it's crucial to be compassionate to ourselves and those around us. When we support others without judgment, we create a sense of safety and open many avenues for growth. Miss Universe Canada reflects these values, with a focus on humanitarian projects, public speaking, and overall well-being. I am supporting S.O.S Children's Village for my humanitarian project.
Compassionate connections foster mutual growth and understanding. This pageant isn’t just about beauty; it has evolved to celebrate the heart, mind and community spirit.
