A Nelson man was arrested after allegedly attacking someone with a machete.
The Nelson Police Department said in a statement they were called Jan. 21 to reports of a man being attacked. Witnesses said they saw the suspect chasing the victim, who tripped and fell to the ground.
The assailant allegedly struck the victim with the machete on the hand. Police arrested the assailant without incident, while the victim was hospitalized with what police say was severe damage to his hand.
The suspect has since been released on bail with conditions.
