Three wildfires near Silverton have both increased in size in the past 24 hours.
All three are listed by BC Wildfire Service as being out of control.
The Komonko Creek fire is now 534 hectares size and the Aylwin Creek fire measures 121 hectares, both as updated by the Southwest Fire Centre on July 20.
These two fires have forced the closure of Highway 6 and have resulted in an evacuation alert for the Village of Silverton and 14 nearby properties. The addresses of the rural properties under the alert can be found here.
An alert is not an order, but requires residents to be ready to leave at a moment's notice.
"Ground crews and airtankers continue suppression efforts, however, hot and dry conditions are increasing fire behaviour in the area," the BC Wildfire Services said yesterday on its Facebook page.
An evacuation order was also issued on July 19 by the Regional District of Central Kootenay for 21 waterfront properties on Slocan Lake near a pair of wildfires at Nemo Creek, one of which has grown significantly.
The two fires were were less than a hectare in size on July 19. One of those two fires, Nemo Creek 1, has grown to 823 hectares as reported by the B.C. WIldfire service as of 8:30 a.m. July 20.
The Nemo Creek fires are on the western side of Slocan Lake, directly across from the Aylwin and Komonko Creek fires.
