The City of Nelson lost a wonderful citizen on Dec. 18, 2017. My brother, Gordon Mackie, passed away suddenly.
Gordon was a talented artist and taught art at the Kootenay School of Art for many years. He helped refurbish the paintings in the Capitol Theatre and revived the life of the interior of this lovely building. He also created a beautiful painting of people dressed in the period of the time for the Bank of Montreal anniversary celebration.
He was a faithful member of the United Church and painted many lovely banners for different ecumenical celebrations.
Gordon loved the City of Nelson. As his sister, I felt Gordon should be remembered for all his contributions to your community.
