After a sold-out debut in November 2024, Nelson Sketch Comedy Revue is back with an all-new show: bigger, bolder, and weirder than ever. Catch it May 15 and May 27 at The Capitol Theatre for two nights only!
Written and performed by locals, for locals, this 90-minute show (with intermission) delivers a fast-paced parade of original, live sketch comedy. Think of it as the SNL of the Kootenays.
The show is written and starred by locals from Uphill to Balfour. Their day jobs range from Kootenay Co-op marketing manager to Shambhala sales rep to government worker, but by night they become unhinged town criers for all that makes Nelson… Nelson.
The show is directed by Michelle Hart, a professional comedian whose goal is to build something that she wants to be a part of that is Nelson-collaborative, weird and accessible.
“This cast doesn’t just rehearse,” says Hart. “They squeeze this show in between council meetings, daycare drop-offs, and Shambhala logistics. And yet, they manage to create something hilarious, moving and really funny.”
The cast includes returning performers Jaymes Bowman, Emma Hill, Kait Hundt-Lippett, Ruth Krulitsky, and Michelle Hart, with two new faces joining the lineup this round. Jonathan Ramos, best known as one of the leads in Southern Interior (Watch it now on KindaTV on YouTube), and Ruby Horton, best known as the woman whose van was infested with rats.
Audiences can expect the return of Nelson News Tonight, with Jackie Atkins reprising her role as the stone-faced anchor delivering delightfully twisted local headlines. Behind the scenes, the chaos is reined in by stage manager Shelby Sanford and tech extraordinaire Terry Brennen.
Produced by Really Cool Productions, the show contains mature content and is recommended for audiences 16-plus. Viewer discretion is advised.
Last fall’s premiere sold out and had audiences raving:
Tickets are $32 and available now at CapitolTheatre.ca. Doors: 7 p.m. | Show: 7:30 p.m.
