Kootenay Co-op Radio's live music co-ordinators Stephanie Myers and Adam O. Thomas are ready to welcome you to Lions Park on May 24 for the third annual KCR Block Party.

Kootenay Co-op Radio is keeping the celebrations going for its 25th anniversary with another exciting community event. Join us for the third annual Kootenay Co-op Radio Block Party on Saturday, May 24 from 1-7 p.m. at Lions Park in Nelson.

In partnership with the Nelson Lions Club, this free community and family-friendly event is packed with fun for everyone, including live music.

Kootenay Co-op Radio continues its tradition of showcasing youth talent, and this year’s spotlight is on Kootenay Garage Band. This dynamic music education program offers young musicians hands-on experience learning instruments, performing in a rock band, and playing live shows. The Block Party lineup also features an exciting mix of local talent.

Paris Pick and The Pricks will deliver their signature brand of yacht-pop, while Snakes and Horses, an all-female ensemble, will take listeners on a nostalgic ride with soulful covers of classic 1960s hits. Closing out the show is Jayne Karma Lamo and the Interbeings, returning to the stage with fresh energy following the release of their new album in late 2024.

Alongside the music, attendees can look forward to a variety of activities — from delicious food at local food trucks to fun kids’ activities, including face painting and a bouncy castle.

You can also explore the incredible work of local non-profit organizations and co-ops as they showcase their contributions to the community.
Kootenay Co-op Radio has once again invited the L.V. Rogers Girls Volleyball Team to host their fundraiser — a lively volleyball tournament that promises fun for participants and spectators alike!

So grab your friends, bring the whole family, and join us at Lions Park in Nelson on Saturday, May 24, for a full day of music, dancing, great food, and community celebration.

Kootenay Co-op Radio’s staff, board, and volunteers are excited to mark this 25th anniversary milestone, and they warmly invite everyone to come out, celebrate, and connect with your local community-powered radio station.

This event is supported with a grant from the Community Radio Fund of Canada. Thank you to local sponsors: Nelson and District Credit Union, Columbia Basin Trust, Popov Leather, Misitiso’s Place Vacation Rentals, Urban Legends, Buddy’s Place and Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism.
